An Autumn Newsletter from EnergyPro

Dear Colleague, It may be a little early for a ‘review of the year’ message, but as EnergyPro continues to grow we wanted to share a little of what we’ve been up to in recent months. Increasingly the corporate and public sector agenda is turning to the once-in-a-generation challenge of achieving net zero. ‘Net Zero as a target is very clear – net zero carbon emissions by 2050’. Our Managing Partner, Steve Fawkes writes about what this really means in practice in his latest blog - Getting to Net Zero – the missing element. So what have we been up to? ESCO-in-a-box EnergyPro is leading a consortium developing a new approach to the delivery of SME-friendly energy efficiency services. Working with regional ESCO partners this new approach will offer guaranteed energy savings with finance and insurance backing for SMEs who traditionally have found implementing efficiency and clean energy projects time consuming and uncertain. The new consortium is developing the business model, marketing toolkit, financing and insurance backing, together comprising a new ‘ESCO-in-a-box’ product that can be adopted by regional ESCO partners throughout the country. We are currently looking for partners and suppliers to help us take this exciting proposition forward. For more information please click HERE. Impact investment EnergyPro has recently completed the commercial due diligence for a potential £25m acquisition in the energy services sector for a leading impact investor. We provided insight on dynamics and growth prospects in the energy services sector, particularly focusing on performance contracts as a solution for the public sector and NHS estates. Our consultants, all of whom have operated energy services businesses, also carried out a critical evaluation of the target’s strategy and positioning. Net Zero in the South West EnergyPro is delighted to be working with South West Energy Partnership – an alliance of authorities in the region - developing an ambitious programme of deep retrofits across Devon, building on several years advising Devon County Council and Plymouth City Council on financing energy projects. Deep retrofits - defined in this case as projects that achieve 70% energy savings - are complicated to finance because the energy cost savings are very long term, but are essential to achieving Climate Emergency targets. EnergyPro is helping develop a business case that goes far beyond cost savings, and we hope this pioneering work will be useful to other local authorities facing similar challenges. Recurve at LCNI 2019 At the end of October EnergyPro represented our partners Recurve at the Low Carbon Network Innovation (LCNI) Conference in Glasgow. EnergyPro is working with Recurve to bring demand flexibility to the UK. The Recurve Platform provides leading utilities, regulators, and aggregators with a secure, scalable, SaaS solution that enables market-based demand flexibility as a resource. Visitors to our stand were able to view a demo of the platform and hear about our collaborations with leading DNOs, BEIS and the Energy Systems Catapult. Short listed for BusinessGreen Building Technology of the Year 2019 EnergyPro has been running an incubation investment programme into new green technology and business since 2017. One of these technologies - created by Negawatt - has now been short listed for the BusinessGreen Building Technology of the Year Awards 2019. The technology - an intelligent Smart Energy Efficiency (SEE™) platform - targets Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), where landlords are under increasing pressure from regulators to improve the energy efficiency of their properties. The innovative model delivers four key outcomes - yield stability, increased asset value, compliance with government legislation, and an improved and more desirable product for the tenants. EnergyPro funded the development phase of the project prior to raising investment from external sources and we are thrilled that the SEE™ platform has been recognised by these Awards. Steve Fawkes at EESL’s INSPIRE event in Mumbai (9 - 11 Nov) EnergyPro is currently developing business streams bridging the energy transitions in India and the UK. Steve Fawkes has been invited by our partners EESL onto the judging panel at EESL's INSPIRE event in Mumbai later this month to meet other stakeholders in India. INSPIRE is a unique event that encourages innovation in energy efficiency. The pitching element of the event was entered by more than 830 companies across India, testament to the level of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Indian energy eco-system.

We look forward to continuing the conversation. The EnergyPro Team Contact: Alex Rathmell, Managing Director Consultancy, EnergyPro Ltd.
