“In these uncertain times…”
It seems most emails we receive at the moment start with these words or variations thereon. And quite rightly. It would be absurd not to acknowledge the strangeness and the anxiousness of this moment in history.
But the world is certainly not standing still. At EnergyPro we are busier than ever, working from various corners of the country on projects around the world to advance the clean energy transition and the investments that will make it happen.
So, while wishing all our clients, friends and fellow ex-travellers the very best, here is an otherwise Coronavirus-free update on what’s keeping us so busy. Stay safe.

Our BEIS-funded project, ESCO-in-a-box®, in partnership with Low Carbon Hub and Oxford Brookes University has completed its first quarter. Together we are developing a Community Energy Services Company to serve SMEs in Oxfordshire, which will then form a template for similar ESCOs around the country. By the end of 2020 we aim to be able to offer ESCO-in-a-box under licence to suitable host organisations.
Reactions to our early market soundings have been extremely positive. We have enlisted the help of the Energy Systems Catapult to research the market and map the most effective and impactful applications of ESCO-in-a-box. Steve Fawkes presented the project at two webinars which gained a lot of interest and follow-up from around the country and internationally.
We’re keen to hear from SMEs in Oxfordshire that are considering energy efficiency upgrades, companies that deliver energy efficiency solutions in Oxfordshire, and organisations anywhere that are interested in becoming licensees of ESCO-in-a-box. Please get in touch and register your interest – we look forward to speaking with you as the project progresses.
Focus on the Indian energy transition
EnergyPro Asset Management (EPAM) connects the energy transitions in the UK and India by bringing together opportunity, expertise and capital. We have been developing a pipeline of companies with technologies in the UK relevant to the Indian energy transition. We are now actively working with two UK companies to support their entry into the Indian market.
We are also delighted that our joint venture with EESL has been recognised as the 'Fastest Growing Company of the Year' at the India meets Britain Tracker 2020 event recently, which highlights the latest trends on Indian Investment in the UK. This award was presented as a result of several acquisitions made by the joint venture, EESL EnergyPro Assets Ltd in the UK in 2019 giving the firm a growth rate of 715%.
Our investment activities
We are working on several exciting energy related investment projects in our partnership with Cameron Barney.
As well as energy matters we have long had an interest in green, healthy and sustainable building - an area that seems even more important in these Corona days. We are currently working with a wildlife trust and an architecture practice specialising in green and healthy buildings on a shared value sustainable development that will transform access to a unique piece of natural capital. If you want to find out more email us.
Green for Growth Fund
EnergyPro have been contracted by the Technical Assistance Facility of the Green for Growth Fund (GGF), managed by the leading impact asset manager Finance in Motion, to develop an online course for energy and resource efficiency finance. The mission of the GGF is to contribute, in the form of a public private partnership with a layered risk/return structure, to enhancing energy efficiency and fostering renewable energies in the Southeast Europe Region including Turkey, in the European Neighbourhood Region-East, and in the Middle East and North Africa.
EnergyPro are providing technical assistance to the development of the online course that will be made available through Germany’s Renewable Academy AG (RENAC), one of the leading international providers for training and capacity-building within the finance community.
Horizon 2020 projects
Through our work on the Investor Confidence Project Europe, and now on ESCO-in-a-box, we have shown the importance of standardisation in project development that has facilitated access to finance and energy efficiency investment. We were delighted to be asked to bring this experience to two Europe-wide projects that are tackling these challenges. One focuses on developing micro grids, the other will standardise data on efficiency projects for investors.
As firm believers in the benefits of European collaboration we are pleased to be able to add these projects to our portfolio despite the UK’s departure from the EU. We are already delivering the European-funded RenoZEB project, which is developing an accelerated deep retrofit process, and we remain a leader in the Energy Efficiency Financial Institutions Group, bringing energy efficiency to the investment community.
